about

Lol, this song was inspired by people I used to be around that were warning me about the dangers of "secular music". First of all, I didn't know what secular music was. The way these people talked, it's like every song on the radio was promoting adultery, alcoholism, drug abuse, stealing hubcaps from cars, robbing banks, or murder. For them, if a song does not specifically mention Jesus, it's bad, it's evil, and you'll be brainwashed into living a life of debauchery, drunkness, you'll be running with the devil. Yup, here I am decades later, living a life of evil because I listened to Rock Around the Clock, Johnny B. Goode, Hearbreak Hotel, Like a Rolling Stone and Ticket to Ride. Why do so many people try to put God in a box? Music is creativity, expression. Why put limits on that? If God gives you the talent to make music, why can it only be one kind? There's good and bad in all types of music. There's good gospel and bad gospel. There's good rock music and there's other stuff I have no desire to listen to. God gave you a brain, use it.

lyrics

Turn that music off, it's not edifying
They sing about teenage love, breaking up and crying
Kissing, holding hands, going out on a date
A bunch stupid, silly stuff to which I can't relate

Secular music, has got no soul,
Will drag you into the pit of rock and roll
Secular music, is for the lost,
Secular music, you'll pay the cost
